Drummer Militia of Veliky Novgorod 13th Century The Veliky Novgorod Militia fought on the Russian side with Alexander Nevskii as their commander against the Crusaders. The Russians stopped the Crusaders at Lake Peipus (Battle of the Ice) in 1242. The bust is sculpted by Anton Derbilov.
